First of all SPA- Delhi is an institution of National importance that comes under the Ministry of Human Resource Development – Government of India
Here is a series of questions which are really beneficial to get an overall knowledge of SPA-D’s M.BEM programme.
How many seats are there in SPA-Delhi’s MBEM Programme?
Ans – Till 2018–2020 batch, it is only 32…..
What GATE exam category do I have to give since I am an architect? (AR) ?
Ans – Architecture for B.Arch candidates and civil for B.Tech candidates.
What is the objective type written test? what are the question like ?
Ans – 50 objective type questions comprising of basics civil & architectural stuffs.
What basis my application will be evaluated ? Skills ? Experience? GATE? etc…?
Ans – All, but performance in interview has the highest weightage.
What would be a good GATE score for admission to SPA for M.BEM and how do I prepare for it ?
Ans – For Architects GATE rank should be below 300 and for Civil below 2500.
Is there any requirement for applicant to have experience, if yes then how many years ?
Ans – No such requirement, but preference will be given to those having experience.
The website mentions a total fee of Rs. 60,000 /- only, is just that much for such a reputed program for one year?
Ans – Yup, and a GATE scholar gets 12400 per month as scholarship. so the course indirectly pays you back.
How is the hostel facility? Is there any issue of ragging etc… Is that locality safe considering I being from Mumbai and there are always news about streets being unsafe etc…
Ans – If you will be lucky then you will get the hostel. The hostel is allotted as per the merit list to top 40% students.
How much is the hostel expenses inclusive of food, stay, etc?
Ans – 30000 for food and 20000 for mess per annum.
The Course Structure mentions – practical training in the third semester and fourth semester, can you please elaborate what exactly is it?
Ans – As an intern, you have to work to get a hand on experience of that area in which you want to excel in the future. PMC, Contracting firms, Cost Analyst, Risk Management, Design consultancies are the few one.
How is the assignments carried out, students are supposed to work only on laptop[digital work] or is there some hand work aslo ? What are the assignments like ? can you give some examples of assignments where you have worked on ?
Ans – Combo, and you will get both group works and individual submissions throughout the course duration. These will be related to your course work directly.
What softwares do I need ?
Ans – Revit, Navisworks, Autocad, Staad pro V8i, Microsoft Project, ETabs, Primavera and many more. (Even if you don’t know any of these they will teach you all)
How are the exams carried out? How is the final exam is it a research thesis ? or a presentation? etc?
Ans – Again combo of all. You will have internal assessments, written Exams, External Assessment(Jury).

Note: The above data is for 2017–2019 batch, although the fee has increased from 48k per annum to 1.1 lpa (still even after increment, its 1/6th of the fee charged by few well known private institutions for the same course).
